Our therapeutic approaches
Story Well Therapy offers a diverse range of evidence-based and person-centred therapeutic modalities, tailored to meet your unique needs and support your journey towards well-being.
Core modalities
We integrate proven techniques like Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), and Interpersonal Therapy (IPT) to provide effective support.
Individualised care
Our practice is neuro-affirming, strengths-based, and person-centred. We also utilise psychoeducation and motivational interviewing to empower your understanding and growth.
Comprehensive frameworks
We operate within crisis response and recovery frameworks, anti-oppressive practice, grief and loss theory, and trauma-informed therapy, alongside essential skills-building training.
More than just therapy
What sets Story Well Therapy apart is our deeply human, story-centred approach to evidence-based care. We see clients not as problems to be fixed, but as unique individuals whose lived experience, identity, relationships, and strengths are central to their healing. Our interdisciplinary background in Journalism, Psychology, and Social Work allows us to offer thoughtful, individualised support grounded in careful listening, curiosity, and genuine human connection – moving beyond one-size-fits-all solutions.
Who benefits from our support?
Story Well Therapy provides a safe and affirming space for a diverse range of individuals and communities, including LGBTQIA+ clients, NDIS participants seeking neuro-affirming practice, adolescents, and those involved with forensic social work (justice-involved clients). We also support vulnerable populations such as women, children, families, the elderly, and diverse cultures, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. Our services extend to DVA, military, armed forces personnel, first responders, and anyone experiencing crisis.
Navigating life's challenges
We specialise in helping clients navigate a broad spectrum of difficulties, including anxiety, depression, mood and personality disorders, suicidal ideation, self-harm, and PTSD. Our expertise also covers substance use disorders and other drug and alcohol concerns, domestic and family violence, interpersonal conflicts, anger management, and support for victims of crime. We provide compassionate care for grief and loss, bullying, school-related issues, workplace challenges, health or injury-related concerns, and behavioural addictions like sexual issues and pornography. We are also deeply experienced in supporting LGBTQIA+ matters.
