Fees & payment options
Story Well Therapy is committed to being transparent about fees and payment options, and to helping clients understand what support pathways are available to them.

| Medicare (mental health care plan) | Sessions are $175 for a 50-minute appointment. With a valid Mental Health Care Plan from your GP, you’ll receive a Medicare rebate of $87.25, reducing your out-of-pocket cost. |
| DVA (department of veterans’ affairs) | Eligible DVA clients are bulk billed in line with the current DVA schedule, at $131.50 for a 50+ minute session. |
| NDIS | For NDIS participants, sessions are billed at $193.99, in accordance with the NDIS Price Guide, where therapy aligns with plan goals and approved funding categories. |
| Private / self-funded | Clients may also choose to self-fund sessions at the standard fee. |
| Private Health Insurance | Private health fund providers offer rebates for mental health social work services. Check with your provider regarding eligibility and rebate amounts. |
If you’re unsure which option applies to you, this can be worked through together. Please note that limited reduced-fee options may be available for people experiencing financial hardship, and you’re welcome to enquire about this when getting in touch.
Booking your session
The easiest way to book a therapy session with Story Well Therapy is by getting in touch directly via the contact details on the website or Instagram page. Once you reach out, we’ll work together to find a suitable appointment time that fits your availability and needs.
Appointment availability can vary, but new clients are usually able to be offered an initial session within one to two weeks, depending on current capacity. Where possible, priority may be given to clients experiencing acute distress or significant changes in circumstances.
If you’re unsure whether therapy is the right step, or have questions before booking, you’re welcome to make contact first. Starting therapy doesn’t have to be complicated — it begins with a conversation, and your enquiry will be responded to with care and respect.
Before your first session & our cancellation policy
Before your first session, it can be helpful to know that there’s no “right” way to come to therapy. You don’t need to have everything worked out or know exactly what to say. The first session is a space to begin getting to know each other, understand what’s bringing you to therapy, and discuss what support might look like for you moving forward.
To help keep appointments fair and accessible, Story Well Therapy has a 24-hour cancellation policy. Cancellations or changes made less than 24 hours before your appointment will incur a late cancellation fee of $100. If an appointment is missed without notice, clients may be liable for the full session fee. These fees are not eligible for Medicare or private health rebates.
If something unexpected arises, it’s always encouraged to make contact as soon as possible. Policies are in place to support the sustainability of the practice while remaining respectful of clients’ circumstances.
